Environmentalists gather

GARDEN Route environmentalists gathered at the weekend to add their voice to worldwide global warming initiatives.

In Plettenberg Bay, representatives from the Wildlife and Environmental Society of SA, the Plettenberg Bay Community Environment Forum and the Eden to Addo Corridor Initiative met at Wittedrift where 100 pupils from Green Valley spelt out the number 350. “The aim of the day was for civil society to appeal to governments and world leaders to take action to reduce our carbon emissions from 387 parts per million (ppm) to 350ppm, which is a sustainable level for our planet,” PBCEF chairman Julie Carlisle said yesterday. At Swartvlei in Sedgefield, environmentalists gathered to write out the words “too hot” with their bodies, according to Eden to Addo’s Pam Booth.
