ABOUT 1700 people took part in the sixth annual two-day Sabrina Love Ocean Challenge in Plettenberg Bay yesterday and Sunday, when international sports stars swam, paddled, cycled, ran and walked alongside holidaymakers.

THE founders of the Iron Man for Kidz initiative in Port Elizabeth, Garth Wright and Gary Stevenson, along with Plettenberg Bay’s Beacon Isle Spar owner Duncan Brown, yesterday handed over R22000 to the Sabrina Love Foundation, which aims to take care of children with disabilities in Plett.

Oakhill School hosted a successful U/9 Six-a-side soccer tournament at their astro turf on May 15. Under-9s from Chris Nissen, Sunridge Primary, Knysna Montessori and Knysna Sports School competed with Oakhill for the prize, kindly donated by Deon at Plett Sports – thanks, Deon!

PLETT Bowling Club held its annual Sixes tournament from March 3 to 5, and a most successful event it was by all accounts. Unfortunately, due to the drought, one of the greens was not playable so the field had to be limited to 14 teams.

The finals of the Plettenberg Bay Bowling Club (PBBC) Business League, sponsored largely by First National Bank, were held on December 2 and were, once again, a huge success in spite of the fact that rain necessitated a three-week extension.
