The municipality has extended an open invitation to local communities to share the fun of the soccer spectacular.

[ June 5, 2010; ] Local soccer fans and players fans in Plettenberg Bay and surrounds will be getting into the spirit of the world’s most beautiful game when they participate in the Bitou Mini World Cup Final in New Horizons on Saturday, 5 June. Bitou Municipality in partnership with the Plett Football Association launched the tournament earlier this month in an effort to raise awareness and support for the 2010 FIFA Soccer World Cup.

The kids of Phakamisani Primary School have made Plett proud with their achievements in soccer – currently the country’s most important sporting code, as the Fifa World Cup rapidly approaches.

The Garden Route will be hosting only three teams for the Fifa World Cup, not four as initially expected.
And Eden District acting municipal manager Morne Hoogbaard said yesterday: “At this stage, Paraguay have not confirmed that Mossel Bay is their first choice.”

So the news in Plett is that we are looking forward to the Season with all our visitors, hectic traffic to the beaches, queues in the supermarkets and price hikes. Ahh but seriously Plett thrives this time of year…

Residents of Plettenberg Bay and surrounds as well as the broader Garden Route community can look forward to weeks of exciting soccer action at the Coca-Cola Plettenberg Bay Fanjol.

Oakhill School hosted a successful U/9 Six-a-side soccer tournament at their astro turf on May 15. Under-9s from Chris Nissen, Sunridge Primary, Knysna Montessori and Knysna Sports School competed with Oakhill for the prize, kindly donated by Deon at Plett Sports – thanks, Deon!
