The 49-year-old Kranshoek angler who disappeared in the surf while fishing off the rocks near Plettenberg Bay on Sunday had still not been found by late yesterday afternoon.
This year’s Tuna National Championships were held in Hout Bay from May 12-16, and saw 11 teams participating in all but perfect conditions.
A project to guide the sustainable management of Plett’s coastal and marine resources was launched last September, after being commissioned by the World Wildlife Fund of SA and endorsed by Bitou Municipality.

Skipper Mike Riley and his Southern Cape team of Justin Lindhorst (St Francis), Colin de Villiers (PE), Ginkel Venter (Uitenhage) and Pat MacDonald (Plett) gave fellow anglers a run for their money during the Two Oceans Tuna Derby, held in Cape Town from November 5-9.
