A WARRANT for the arrest of Plettenberg Bay motorist Shaun Hebblethwaite was issued in the Knysna Magistrate’s Court yesterday after he failed to appear on charges of crimen injuria for allegedly racially insulting two traffic officials.
Knysna community services director Charl Botha said the two officers stopped Hebblethwaite in George Rex Drive last Thursday because his car’s front number plate was missing.
He was apparently also unable to produce his driver’s licence.
Botha said when one of the officers advised Hebblethwaite that he was liable to a fine, “he became abusive and started making racial remarks towards the officers” and “continued to make racist remarks and harass the officers” after he was issued with a fine.
Both of the officers laid criminal charges against Hebblethwaite the following day, and he was due to appear in court yesterday.
